Write it Out, a safe space and accountability group for writers
Write It Out:
an accountability group for writers.
Wednesdays 5-7pm
Tired of wishing you’d gotten to your writing?
We will begin right at 5 with a prompt. Use it, or not. At 6 we’ll come back together and read what we wrote. The feedback process will be explained in the group: essentially it is this: reflect back the parts of the story you were positively impacted by, a word choice, the description of a place, or a moody ambiance that was created. The idea is to create safe space for us to write and share in.
For the last 7 years I have been part of Paula Diaco’s (writestoriesnow.com) writing salon. We met 1x a week in person and then jumped onto Zoom as the group expanded. I grew so much from the experience of writing consistently through the month. My mother passed away 7 years ago, my kids were going to college and change was afoot. I was drifting, unsure of who I was.
Writing consistently helped me find my voice. My writing group listened to me each week. I began to listen to myself in a more grounded and patient way. You can too. Growth is all in the shloggy trudge of showing up and doing the work.
I love Julia Cameron’s advice to “keep the drama on the page”. Her crisp line drawn in the sand…do we want to write the swirl around us down? invent our own juicy tale? or create a short essay, blogpost or more content for our website?
